The Human Footprint: The Ecological Footprint or Human Footprint, is defined as how much natural resources we as human beings use, and it varies with the individual. This Footprint compares our demands with Planet Earth’s capacity to renew those same resources. It also considers the need to absorb, reuse or neutralize the waste generated by the Earth population. The CO2 footprint is the amount of what some call greenhouse gasses produced per human being. Methods of calculating such footprint vary accordingly to whom you are speaking to; so instead of attempting to replicate some complicated formulas in a vain attempt to explain the process, we will just use the Environmental Protection Agency’s CO2 Calculator, or carbon footprint calculator, and attempt to come up with some basic global warming solutions, by reducing our CO2 footprint,
We cannot and will not attempt to tell you that in order to offset a metric ton of carbon dioxide you need to plant two trees and ensure that they grow to maturity. But we will say that every little bit that you do helps. Ideally, we all would do our part. However that would be wishful thinking. So some of us will do more than others.
Arguably, the best and more efficient way to re establish the balance in nature is to plant more trees, and help heal the land. Start now!
